WINTER 2022
A friendly reminder for Winter 2022 to stay warm and protect yourselves from the elements.
UVB rays can burn and damage your skin year-round, especially at high altitudes and on reflective surfaces such as snow or ice. Snow reflects up to 80 percent of the sun’s UV light, so the rays hit you twice, further increasing your risk of skin cancer and premature aging.
DO YOU KNOW YOUR ABCDE’S
The ABCDE rule for skin cancer is a handy acronym that can help you identify potential skin cancers.
The letters stand for “Asymmetrical, Border, Color, Diameter, Evolving.” A new or changing spot or mole on your skin may be a sign of cancer.
When in doubt, it’s best to have a doctor check it out.
Fight Cancer with Footy Colours Day
A BIG THANKYOU to each and every one of our patients who got into the footy spirit over the last two weeks with donations or wearing their teams colours with pride. It was a fantastic couple of weeks getting into the spirit! We raised a total of $465.70 for the ‘Fight Cancer with Footy Colours Day’ which is an incredible effort by all.
Fight Cancer Foundation’s Footy Colours Day
The Ballarat Surgicentre is again taking part in the Fight Cancer Foundation’s Footy Colours Day to raise funds to help kids with cancer.
From Monday 13th of September to Thursday 23rd of September we will be wearing our footy colours in support of Kids with Cancer.
Feel free to show your support by wearing your footy colours to your appointments.
We will be collecting donations in reception for this worthy cause. Our goal this year is to raise $1,000. We will be providing updates on how we are travelling and our favourite footy photos from the week.
Help us make an even bigger difference by supporting our Footy Colours Day event.
The Kids Cancer Project
The Ballarat Surgicentre has named our Kids Cancer Project super bear BAXTER!
Baxter will be donated to Central Highlands Rural Health in Daylesford. We hope he can bring many smiles to the kids receiving care at Central Highlands Rural Health.
Crazy Hair and Socks
The Ballarat Surgicentre we would like to thank all of our wonderful patients and staff for wearing their fabulous socks and crazy hair last week as part of our fundraiser for The Kids Cancer Project.
We raised a total of $888.95 for this charity!!!

Biggest Morning Tea 2021
Congratulations to Isabel and Michaela on their HUGE fund raising effort for the Cancer Councils Biggest Morning Tea event for 2021.
The total raised by these wonderful ladies was $9561.00, thank you to everyone who supported this fundraiser.

Our free SunSmart app takes away the guesswork by telling you when the UV is 3 and above with sun protection recommended for your location.
It uses forecast information from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and live UV data from the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) to provide sun protection times for more than 600 locations across Australia.
